The site required maintaining housing for the fire-fighters and their apparatus vehicle during construction, as well as phased completion to allow early use of the apparatus bay for storage of the vehicle. The building character is in keeping with a style preferred by the Fire Department, which includes the use of masonry, arches, and metal roofing.
